There were some standout results in Round 2 of Varsity Football 2022 and with that, some standout players could not be ignored!
Philane Masondo (UJ):
Masondo constantly caused problems for Tuks defence in both halves creating three opportunities which UJ couldn’t convert into goals.
He eventually found the equalizer and assisted Thulani Zandamela who scored UJ’s second goal.
Sipho “Klate” Makae (VUT):
The tricky winger gave the mighty TUT a torrid time despite the hostie home support from Bushy Moloi’s side.
The coach himself admitted that he was hard to contain throughout the clash and that he should be in the junior South African national team set-up.
Heaven Seretsi (NWU):
The North West University winger does not show any respect to defenders and thrives on one-v-one situations.
In the impressive 2-0 win over the University of Free State, he was the chief creator of their chances and despite several standout performers from the home side, he stood out as the clear danger man.
Kal Laing (Wits):
The Wits University captain was a pillar in defence for the visitors, he also opened the scoring at the Peter Booysens Stadium and was the difference between losing and earning a point for his side.
Aden McCarthy is also impressed but Laing’s all-around performance with the goal and notably leadership qualities pushes him ahead, a very calm figure and dominant aerially.
