UWC failed to blow visitors UL away in a wind-blown affair in Cape Town, where the teams played to a 1-1 draw at UWC Stadium on Monday night.
The home team pushed for an early goal through striker Curtley Beukes, who was first to find a way through but failed to beat UL goalkeeper Jonathan Gole.
A relentless attack saw the visitors crack in the eighth minute with Beukes heading in after Tapelo Sixishe curled in a corner using the howling wind get the ball over Gole. Beukes made no mistake to give UWC a 1-0 lead.
Sixishe had a second goal for UWC in his sights, unleashing a low drive which Gole did well to palm away and prevent the home side from doubling their lead.
UL found their rhythm towards the end of the first half and the hosts resorted to some tough tackling. Thulani Mkosi soon found himself booked for a dangerous tackle.
Talisman Clyde Kgatla had a chance to equalise for UL, but he failed to hold composure with goalkeeper Reon October to beat.
UWC managed to hold on to their lead at half-time, going into the break at 1-0.
UL picked up where they left off in the second half, but October did exceptionally well to keep his side in the game.
The stopper was in top form, making four saves in succession with midfielder Austin Dube coming closest to scoring.
Striker Theo Phophi eventually got the better of October via a corner, the wind again playing a role as the visitors found their way back in the game.
Phophi timed the ball well as it came off the crossbar from another corner. The strike making no mistake to bury the ball passed a flailing October.
Limpopo kept up the pressure but failed to score again as UWC held on to secure the draw.
