The Vaal University of Technology have gone the extra mile in terms of their training as they look to finish better than third place at this year’s Varsity Beach Volleyball tournament.
According to third-year BA Sports Management student, Trandy Ntelecha, the team from Gauteng have trained extremely hard. They have participated in a few tournaments to build match fitness and trained with their men’s team to gain the extra edge.
“Training has gone really well. We are a very young team with most, including myself, having never played in the tournament before. This is definitely a rebuilding year for us but it does not mean we will be easy opponents,” said Ntelecha.
VUT are set to play Tuks, UL and UWC in Round One (4 May) and will meet UCT and Kovsies (UFS) in Round Two (5 May ).
All matches will be televised live on SuperSport Select and SuperSport 5. All fixtures can be viewed here: http://www.old.varsitysportssa.com/fixtures/beachvolleyball-fixtures-results/
