Although his side shared the spoils with UJ, Kovsies coach Godfrey Tenoff was encouraged by his team’s performance.
The Bloemfontein side took the lead twice in front of their home crowd, only for a 10-man UJ to equalise twice, but Tenoff insists that his team improved on their performance against UWC the week before.
“I want to be honest, I thought we would win. I think between the two we settled first and it was evident when we took the lead,” he said.
Believing that they were well prepared for the game, he explained that they were fresh and prepared for the game.
“We got ourselves refocused and we gave the players who needed time off the time to sit out. We were fresh and prepared.”
“I really think we have improved from our last game. I think the teams work rate has improved. Motsamai and Modupi were brilliant and covered an unbelievable amount of space. UJ has intelligent and very mobile players,” Tenoff said.
Tenoff added that he feels Kovsies did enough to win the match bur UJ definitely showed lots of character to fight back. Tenoff will also not be making any major changes to his line up for next week.
The Kovsies coach thanked the home crowd for their support.
“I want to thank the faithful Kovsie supporters for coming out in numbers and supporting their team. We need the support now more than ever to be successful,” he said.
