A fine half-century from Josh Schippers (55 from 48) propelled UWC to a narrow four-run win against the luckless Madibaz at the Ibbies Oval on Thursday afternoon.
The Madibaz were involved in another nail-biter this afternoon, this time against UWC. Unfortunately for them, once again they came up agonisingly short.
UWC batted first and made a composed 153/7 largely thanks to Schippers who recorded his second half-century of the tournament. Karl Vermeulen also added a well-played 38 to push UWC to a respectable score of 153/7.
Mark Amm was the top bowler for the Madibaz taking 3/19 in four overs. Sean Callaghan was also among the wickets with 2/23 in his four overs.
Tristan Stubbs (38 from 39) and Morne Venter (37 from 25) looked to take the Madibaz to victory but both lost their wickets with the score on 130 as UWC gained the upper hand in the latter overs.
Emmanuel Sebareme (2/20) and Mujaahid Toffar (2/23) bowled beautifully for UWC as they did enough to take a narrow win. Mark Amm tried to steer the Madibaz to victory in the final over, but failed as UWC held their nerve.
