VUT coach ‘Gomma’ Masango has not made any changes to his team to face NWU-Pukke at the Izak Steyl Stadium on Thursday.
Following their opening 0-0 draw with NMMU at the same venue last week, Masango believes that the boys did well and he wants to give them a chance to show their skill. The area of focus in preparing for the next game being up front with the attackers
Both teams made their début in the opening matches last week. VUT, in a goalless draw to the Madibaz and NWU-Pukke losing 3-2 to WSU, putting Masango’s team just a point ahead of their opponents.
The match will bring an end to the second round, but at this stage of the tournament it is still anyone’s game as there is still room for drastic change.
The VUT coach said that reaching the play-offs is very important to his team.
“I have been following this tournament for the past two years and fortunately our team is now a part of it. We are so excited as a team, a school and community,” he said.
The game is to be televised live on Supersport, which should have both teams on edge and on their toes in anticipation. It is expected to be a packed game with an energetic crowd boasting fans galore for both sides.
Kickoff is scheduled for 18:30 on the VUT turf, ISak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on Thursday.
