Both UWC and WSU are within reach of the top of the Varsity Football standings ahead of their clash in Bellville on Thursday which will conclude Round Three.
The Cape side is one of only three teams to have played in every season of Varsity Football thus far, but they have never made the play-offs, finishing in sixth position twice.
Following their opening round 0-0 draw with Wits in Johannesburg and their dramatic 2-1 home win over two-time champions UP-Tuks they have top spot in their sights as newcomers WSU travel down to Cape Town for the match that will conclude Round Three.
WSU made an impressive start to the tournament, claiming the only win in the first round to take an early lead, but they were brought back down to earth in Round Two as TUT handed them a 3-1 defeat in Tshwane.
That leaves the Eastern Cape outfit down in seventh place on the log, and they will be determined to show that they have what it takes to do the business away from home when they run out in Bellville on Thursday.
Conditions at the UWC Stadium are sure to play a role, with a notoriously bumby pitch and the prevailing wind set to make life difficult for the visitors.
UWC will want to make home advantage count as they did in picking up their second straight win over defending champions UP-Tuks, but they will be wary of WSU who are still something of an unknown quantity.
It will be the first televised game for WSU, so they will be keen to make a good impression in front of the cameras, and they will know that a win by more than two goals will see them reclaim their spot at the top of the standings.
Prediction: WSU will be dangerous and will hold nothing back, but UWC are full of confidence and should do enough to win at home by one goal.
