Varsity Sports Mountain Bike, sponsored by FNB is an University Sport South Africa (USSA) endorsed race and forms part of the inaugural Varsity MTB Challenge.
Five university teams are competing in this race and they include Maties, UCT Ikeys, UP-Tuks, NWU-Pukke and Madibaz.

Varsity Sports Mountain Bike will take place within the Varsity MTB race, which is the first ever mountain bike race designed specifically for universities in South Africa. Riders will have the opportunity to rekindle the spirit of university competition by riding in the colours of their university again. Varsity MTB Challenge is a two-day race set in the beautiful Franschhoek in the Western Cape and is open to alumni, students and supporters of any university.Aside from riding on exciting, new terrain riders will enjoy a Race Village offering entertainment and hospitality where there will be opportunity to meet up with fellow alumni, old friends and family.
