As we head into a break away from Varsity Netball, fans can be reassured that there will be no shortage of netball action as some of your favourite netball stars will be competing at the World University Netball Championship (WUNC), which will he taking place from the 15th of September in Uganda.
Jenny van Dyk will be leading the charge as South Africa takes on the likes of Kenya, Singapore, Zimbabwe, America, Namibia, Sri Lanka and hosts, Uganda. This will be a great opportunity for the team to test their skills and Coach Jenny has set out some of their objectives:
To combine our individual strengths into team results.
To establish and settle combinations.
To improve as the competition continues.
To defend our title.
Asked about how she plans on getting the team to gel as one unit on such a limited amount of time, Van Dyk placed emphasis on match time, communication and keeping fresh and energized.
“Nothing gels a team quicker than playing together under pressure. Clear and very precise communication on rules, guidelines, strategies, tactics and team dynamics expected and to prioritise keeping them fresh and energized throughout the week.”
Varsity Netball wishes the team all the best in their title defence!
