After six rounds of exciting games and a party atmosphere in the stands, Varsity Football takes a break this week.
Six match rounds have already been completed, with defending champions University of Johannesburg and the University of the Free State having already booked their tickets for the semi-finals after picking up 13 points.
Meanwhile, the Tshwane University of Technology (11 points), the North-West University (9 points), the University of Pretoria (9 points) and the Vaal University of Technology are still fighting it out for the last two semi-final spots.

However, that exciting top-four battle has been placed on hold this week, due to the Confederation of Universities and Colleges Sports Associations (CUCSA) Zone Six Games.
“We decided to take a gap week this week to allow our players and coaches to participate at the CUCSA Games. USSA Football had written to us to request that we accommodate our athletes and management staff that are called up to represent SA Universities at the CUCSA Games taking place from the 28 Aug-3 Sep 2022 in Malawi, Lilongwe,” Xhanti-Lomzi Nesi, Head of Varsity Sports at Advent Sport Entertainment and Media (ASEM) said.
But don’t worry, this is just the silence before the storm as Varsity Football returns to action on 8 September.
We hope you’ll enjoy the break and be ready for fireworks in the final round-robin round before this year’s semi-finals.
