Tuks lashed Madibaz 51-32 to claim a bonus-point victory and climb to the top of the Varsity Netball standings after their Monday night encounter at the Coetzenburg Indoor Center in Stellenbosch.
The Pretoria athletes never trailed in the match and opened a 4-1 lead in the opening stages of the first quarter before ending the quarter with a 13-7 lead.
After resumption of play, they kept the scorers busy as regular goals saw them go from 16-9 to 19-10 and to 22-11. The first powerplay of the match was a bit of a damp squib, as Tuks could only score one goal.
It seemed that for every goal the Madibaz scored the Tuks did twice as much and at 37-21 deep into the third quarter the writing was on the wall concerning the outcome.
Tuks were leading 41-25 after three quarters and knew that a bonus-point for scoring 50 goals would see them go to the top of the standings.
After what must have seemed like an eternity for Coach Jenny van Dyk the Tuks slotted the all-important 50th goal to grab the bonus point and keep their chase for top spot on the 2019 Varsity Netball standings going.
Tuks next face UWC before battling the Maties in what promises to be an epic encounter while the Madibaz first host Maties before playing UWC in the Port Elizabeth bumper weekend.
