UP-Tuks got their first win of the Varsity Women’s Football 2019 tournament when they beat CUT 6-0 at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds in Potchefstroom.
UP-Tuks got off to a promising start when Morongwa Manamela found the back of the net in the fourth minute to put her team 1-0 up.
While CUT tried to hold off the UP-Tuks attack Amilcar Thobejane managed to find her way through and doubled the lead for The Stripe Generation, and Pretoria side took that 2-0 lead into half-time.
UP-Tuks came out firing in the second half, with Duduzile Qwabe scoring twice in less than five minutes to again double their lead and slowly start running away with the game.
Nomhle Skosana added her name to the score sheet when she found the back of the net to take Tuks up to 5-0. Then Qwabe put the final nail in CUT’s coffin when she scored her hat-trick in the final minutes of the game to hand her team an impressive 6-0 win – whether their tournament was over or not…
