The University of Johannesburg(UJ) and UWC shared the spoils with the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in the North versus South encounter in the Varsity Women’s Football tournament on Friday evening at the Fanie du Toit Sport Grounds in Potchefstroom.
In the first half both UJ and UWC played expansive soccer but the scores remained level. It was the women in orange who were on attack for most of the time. However, the defensive performance and structured play of UWC kept UJ out of the box for all of the second half.
The second half began at a pace as UJ’s Precious Matabologa tested the UWC keeper Regirl Ngobeni to the extreme with her long range strike at goal.
Both teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw as UJ still managed to keep their number one spot in their group.
