UJ coach Dr Charlotte Scholtz hopes her team will keep to their gameplan in their next match against NMMU in Varsity Netball on Sunday at the UJ Soweto Imbizo Hall.
She admits that they become overwhelmed when they lost key players due to injury in their match against UP-Tuks on Monday which lead them to a 98-26 loss.
Deancke Rohde twisted her ankle in the first quarter and had to be rested throughout the match as Scholtz didn’t want to risk aggravating the injury but she should be fit to be back against Madibaz, while Iize Jones hurt her back in the third quarter and couldn’t finish the match.
NMMU will want to bounce back after their 53-38 loss to Kovsies in the fifth round of matches.
“I am used to having my players falling but they always get up. We going to have to work on our intensity, we have to learn how to stick to our game plan.
“This whole week we have to work on how to keep on the game plan, executing what we need to do. Sometimes we get overwhelmed when we lose our key players then our whole game plan goes out the window,” she said.
She added that her players would have to be able to adapt quicker should their strategy not go the way they plan.
“We are used to playing a more fast paced game and the release of the ball. You plan and train for a match with certain players in mind and when the players are not there anymore it becomes a setback but that is something we need to work on, adapting to the different situations we find ourselves in during a match,” she said.
