On 21 September at the Fanie du Toit Sports Ground, the University of Johannesburg defeated the University of Free State in the final group stage match of the tournament, winning 4-1.
With what looked like a slow start of the match UJ proved everyone wrong when Kelebogile Putu and Rakgadi Kekana scored for the team, making the scoreboard 2-0 to UFS.
During first half UFS found it difficult to defend and attack against their opponents. UJ ruled the field, making sure the ball was in their possession.
Amanda Mthandi made the ball fly into the net for UJ in the second half leaving the UFS goalkeeper shaking her head in disbelief. Boitumelo Rasehlo of UJ received a yellow card for injuring an opponent shortly before Putu scored the fourth goal for UJ making up for the yellow card. Pheladi Tleane tried to redeem her team and pulled one back for UFS.
But the University of Johannesburg left the field as winners with a score of 4-1.
