On Monday UCT will come head-to-head against UFS Kovsies at the UFS Callie Human Hall. A lot will be asked of the team from the Mother City as they are yet to win a game in the Varsity Netball tournament.
However, the team are as determined as ever, as each game provides them with added experience and an opportunity for them improvement.
The UFS Kovsies have won three out of the four games they have played so far in the tournament. They started off their campaign with a 60-47 loss to NWU but they have since undergone massive improvement against Tuks, winning 46-53, against TUT, winning 26-75 and winning 71-36 against UJ.
UCT on the other hand have lost all games so far but have seen significant improvement with almost every game. They lost 22-62 to rivals Maties and improved slightly losing 24-63 to UJ.
They were on the back foot with their game against NMMU, losing 67-22, however they gained huge ground with their game against TUT losing only 35-43.
In terms of what the team will be looking to take forward into the upcoming games, UCT coach Stephanie Duursema, said: “We are working on our fitness. The next three matches are against very physical teams – we will focus on better use of space in the centre third as well as new movements to assist our shooters with better placed balls to score from.”
