The University of Cape Town will look to reach the semifinals and potentially win this year’s Varsity Beach Volleyball tournament at UWC.
UCT have prepared well according to second year BSc Biochemistry and Genetics student, Michelle Barboure.
“We have trained really hard and have made sacrifices including training on the weekends,” said Barboure.
This year marks Barboure’s first time competing at the Varsity Beach Volleyball tournament and her and her teammates have identified UWC and Tuks as their immediate challengers for the title.
“As defending champions, UWC, are always dangerous. I know Tuks captain, Margrit Springer, from school so I know how good she is,” explained Barboure.
UCT are set to play the University of Limpopo, UWC and Kovsies (UFS) in Round One (4 May) and meet Tuks and VUT in Round Two (5 May).
All matches will be televised live on SuperSport Select and SuperSport 5. All fixtures can be viewed here: http://www.old.varsitysportssa.com/fixtures/beachvolleyball-fixtures-results/
