TUT are determined to return to their winning ways when they host UCT in their Varsity Football clash in Pretoria on Monday.
The log-leaders lost two valuable points when they drew 1-1 against UFS at home in Round Four , however coach Bushy Moloi’s side are determined to make amends against a demoralised UCT side that lost 5-0 to Tuks.
TUT vice captain Themba ‘V3’ Nkosi says their draw against UFS was a wake up call and now ready to collect the maximum points against the struggling UCT in Pretoria on Monday.
“Even though there were other factors that contributed us failing to pick up the three points against UFS at home, I think the draw was a wake up call,”said Nkosi.
“We have now gone back to the drawing board and tried to rectify some of our mistakes that we commited in the past. We started the tournament on high note and scored four goals against Tuks but we have since failed to maintain the same performance.
“We have been working hard at training on how to create and score those goals. I am confident that the goals will come again like rain when we play against UCT on Monday,”he added.
TUT have already lost the services of the influencial captain Khuliso Rashamuse after he received a red card during the game against UFS. Besides his leadership qualities Rashamuse has also been a marvel to watch, calling shots in the middle of the park.
However Nkosi says his team has got capable replacement for their captain.
“We will miss our captain especially for his leadership qualities but we have other good and capable players that will do the job for the team on Monday. I am sure whoever gets a chance to play in his position will live up to expectation against UCT on Monday”.
TUT are currently log leaders in the Varsity Football Tournament with 10 points after playing four games whilst UCT are still struggling at the bottom of the log with only one point.
