Having failed to register a victory in four matches, who would have thought UKZN will stop TUT’s moving train that hasn’t lost a match in this year’s Varsity Football?
Almost everyone assumed it will be a walk in the park for the Red Machine who are undoubtedly the favourites to retain the Varsity Football title they won in 2018.
Despite the ‘blip’, one of TUT’s loyal fans, Business Administration student Bheki Mkhonza, believes his side are going to the final again – based on their consistency to date.
“I think no one can stop us as we haven’t lost a match and we are going into the finals, with no doubt,” Mkhonza tells varsitysportssa.com.
The 24-year-old emphasized that team effort and individual brilliance will help TUT to defend their title. Additionally, everyone seems to be praising TUT’s Thabiso Lebitso who has found the back of the net twice this season.
“For me, Thabiso Lebitso is the Player of the Tournament this year. Let’s be honest, the boy is extremely talented and I like him. In 2017, we had Themba Ndlovu but this year we have Lebitso. In addition, one of our strengths has always been our work ethic and team effort and that is why we are the reigning champions,” concluded the fourth-year student.
The Tshwane based giants will be looking to continue their dominance against fifth-placed UFS oat Shimla Park on Thursday.
