TUT captain Khuliso Rashamuse has expressed his disappointment with the referee after he was shown a red card during the Varsity Football Match against UFS in Pretoria.
Rashamuse was sent for an early shower after a rough tackle on UFS striker,Lehlohonolo Mokoena in the 30th minute of TUT and UFS’ 1-1 draw in front of small crowd at the TUT Stadium.
The TUT captain is now set to miss the game against the University of Cape Town next week Monday due to the red card.
“I think it was harsh decision by the referee,” said Rashumuse. “I went for a strong tackle in which I think I won the ball fair and square. Maybe a yellow card should have been a best option and not the red card,” he added.
The Limpopo-born defender hailed his teammates for gallant performance despite being one man down for almost 60 minutes.
“Someone how I think affected the players mentality especially losing their leader. It also affected our game plan but credit must go to my teammates who fought hard to get atleast a point from the match,” said Rashamuse.
TUT still remain on top of the log with 10 points despite dropping two valuable points at home against UFS.
“We are going to take each game at a time and our mission is still clear that we want to win this tournament,” added Rashamuse.
