Title-holders Tshwane University of Technology were in a class of their own against the University of Free State today with a comfortable 2-0 win.
TUT were in confident mood after their 4-2 win against Tuks yesterday evening and dominated possession for most of the game. The only problem was that they could not find the net in the opening 30 minutes although they had plenty of chances.
TUT finally put their pressure into goals when striker Letago Modiba scored the opener after UFS goalkeeper Cynthia Leeuw made a mistake from a corner.
TUT’s Mapule Nhlapo was a constant menace on the left wing as she constantly shifted up and down when needed in attack or defence. UFS resorted to long range shots and hopeful balls for most of the match as they could not keep up with TUT’s slick possession game instilled by head coach Tebogo Mokae.
TUT continued their dominance in the second half with Kgomotso Mashilwane extending the lead to 2-0 with a cracker of a shot. Overall the TUT women looked fresh and energized and never took their foot off the accelerator.
UFS had to concede free kicks in order to stop the TUT juggernaut. Luckily for UFS, TUT’s radar was off on their set pieces.
