TUT soccer fans are backing their table-topping team to go on and win the first Varsity Football tournament.
TUT are currently riding the crest of a wave in the tournament and look destined to bring the much coveted trophy to Pretoria. They are still yet to be beaten in the tournament and already qualified for the semifinals next month.
Big TUT supporter Busisiwe Sijora believes her team has all the credentials to win the Varsity Football tournament.
“I think we have a great team. The team have got character and the players work for each other,” said Sijora.
“I think we are capable of winning this tournament as long as we are going to keep focus. We lost it a little bit when we played against UFS after the boys undermined them. I am happy that they managed to pick it up against UCT and hope they continue to do the same until the last day of the tournament,” she added.
The Cape Town born lady also expressed how impressed she has been by the standard of football and the set up done by the organisers of the Varsity Football tournament.
“The set up is out of this World. What excites me most is the publicity that this tournament is getting. Its good for players…its good for supporters and its good for development of football in the country,” she said.
Meanwhile, beside the standard of football being dished by the teams, local soccers fans are excited about incentives in form of prizes provided by the sponsors and offered to spectactors during the Varsity tournament.
Sijora is one of the fans that won a voucher from Debonairs Pizza during the Varsity Football game between TUT and UCT played in Tshwane last week.
“Its good for supporters and encourages them to come to the stadiums,” she said.
