TUT ran out comfortable 2-0 victors over UWC in the second ladies semifinal which now gives them a chance of claiming the title to go with their USSA trophy.
TUT had a chance in the opening minutes of the match when Mary Ntsweng dribbled her way through the UWC defence but her shot was saved by Miranda Calderon in the visitor’s goals.
The Pretoria ladies continued to dominate the match and looked threating as they looked to open the scoring but were left frustrated as they regularly failed to hit the target.
Bontle Mashilo missed a perfect chance to give her side the lead after she got on the end of a pass from Koketso Tlailane but the shot was easily dealt with by the UWC defence.
Mashilo made up for her earlier miss in the 40th minute when she a sent a powerful shot from the edge of the box which left Calderon with no chance as the keeper watched the ball hit the back of her net.
TUT held onto their slender lead at the halftime break.
UWC started the second half stronger as they went in search of the equaliser and came close in the 55th and 57th minute of the match when Jade Koks had consecutive freekicks saved by TUT’s goalkeeper Thabile Malambe.
The Tswane students extended their lead in the 60th minute through a long range effort from Ntsweng whose powerful drive sailed into the UWC net.
TUT kept pushing to find a third but were unable to add more goals as they ran out comfortable 2-0 victors.
