Lenize Potgieter knows that UP-Tuks will have to be on top of their game when they host Maties in their Varsity Netball semifinal on Monday.
After securing a home semifinal with a 88–30 win over VUT, the Pretoria students have turned their attention to what will be an exact replay of last year’s semifinal which they won to go through to the final.
The group stage encounter saw the Tuks ladies draw first blood, and take the win in a gruelling game which they edged 54-51.
“I’m really looking forward to our semi on Monday against Maties. It’s great to have a home semifinal.
“I know for sure that Maties will bring their A++ game, but my team and I have been training hard and have settled the combination so I’m looking forward to seeing what each team brings,” said Potgieter.
Potgieter was in great form in the last round robin encounter with an exceptional 93.8% shooting average.
The Tuks goal shooter has huge prospects ahead of her and is on the brink of signing a contract with the University of Bath in the UK to play in the super league that starts in November this year.
“It is a huge privilege to be invited to play in the Super League in England. I know I can only gain more netball knowledge as well as life skills. A great opportunity indeed,” she said.
