UP-Tuks continued their unbeaten Varsity Netball run with a dominant 98-26 victory over UJ in Pretoria.
It was their fifth consecutive win of the season to maintain their spot at the top of the standings, whilst it was a third defeat for UJ who find themselves down in fifth place.
The home side bolted out of the blocks as they took the game to UJ, and the visitors found themselves chasing the game from the outset.
UP-Tuks’ dominance saw them take a commanding lead into the first break after an opening quarter which saw little go UJ’s way.
The home side were clinical in their execution, with captain Melissa Myburgh prolific in front of goal as they piled the pressure on the visitors.
UP-Tuks took the powerplay five minutes before half-time and made good use of it as they built up a 49-16 lead by the break.
They claimed the bonus point early in the second half, and although UJ fought hard there really was no way back into the game for them.
At the final break UP-Tuks had established a massive 74-22 advantage and it was more of the same in the final quarter as they cruised to a convincing victory.
