UP-Tuks maintained their perfect start to the campaign with a 58-29 bonus point victory over UJ in Potchefstroom.
The Pretoria ladies have now bagged three consecutive bonus point victories to keep their flawless record but it was certainly a tough start to this encounter for them.
UP-Tuks raced to a 5-2 lead after the opening seven minutes and both teams were only able to add a point each at the 10 minute mark. The Pretoria ladies were struggling in the attacking circle as they missed numerous chances but found their range towards the end of the opening quarter to hold an 11-5 lead at the break.
Both sides managed to add four points each in the opening five minutes of the second quarter before Tuks managed to increase their lead nine points with five minutes remaining in the quarter.
Tuks called for the Powerplay with the score sitting at 20-10 and managed to add three goals to their total while UJ slotted two of their own as the second quarter ended with Tuks holding a 26-14 lead.
UJ found themselves up against it in the early stages of the third quarter as Tuks increased their lead to 32-15 halfway through the quarter. Tuks began to find their rhythm and racked up the points as the quarter progressed to find themselves 39-21 ahead at the end of the third quarter.
The Johannesburg ladies called for the second powerplay early in the final quarter with the score siting at 41-23 in favour of Tuks. It came to an end with 10 minutes remaining in the match and Tuks managed to extend their lead to 47-25.
Tuks reached the magic 50 point park with five minutes remaining in the contest and then managed to add a further eight points to claim the comfortable victory.
