Varsity Netball returns for a sixth season. Are you ready to #ShowYourColours?
The eight captains of the 2018 Varsity Netball season gathered in Johannesburg last week, to launch the sixth season of a competition that has grown from strength to strength over the past five years.
This season will begin on 26 August with a bumper weekend of fixtures taking place at both Madibaz and Kovsies over the Sunday and Monday, with matches televised live on SuperSport on both days. The semi-finals will take place on Monday 1 October with the final taking place on 8 October.
Varsity Netball is all about South African universities’ talented young ladies expressing themselves on and off the netball court. Whether it’s showing some flair on the court or sharing the experience of travelling with the team on Instagram, keep an eye out for how they Show Their Colours throughout the season.

Look no further than the Proteas netball team to see just what a success the competition has been in just five short years.
“Varsity Netball players have gone on to become regular faces in the Proteas squad,” said Varsity Netball Code Manager Jana Arlow. “After a recent squad announcement, only three players of the current Proteas team did not come through Varsity Netball. Karla Pretorius (née Mostert), Khanyisa Chawane, Romé Dreyer, Maryka Holtzhausen, Danelle Lochner, Lenize Potgieter, Shadine van der Merwe, Ine-Marí Venter, Zanele Vimbela, Sigi Burger, Meagan Roux and Monique Reyneke all represented their respective universities on the Varsity Netball stage.“These ladies and so many others have inspired the young players rising through the school ranks. They play with such passion and are true ambassadors for the game. I am sure that these athletes will make their universities proud during the 2018 Varsity Netball tournament.”
