Despite having most of the possession and territory The Orange Army only managed to win 2-0 against a resilient UKZN in Potchefstroom on Friday afternoon.
UJ started the game off in an aggressive fashion, with the Jo’burgers pushing most of the team up field. UKZN’s defence were ready though and held the attacking team out.
Nearing half-time, the score line was still 0-0, which seemed absurd considering UJ’s possession and territory dominance throughout the half. The Durbanites had goalkeeper Zandile Nyamazane to thank for her unbelievable goal-saving acrobatics.
The dam wall eventually burst though, with UJ’s Rakgadi Kekana finishing off a fantastic cross to score, making the score 1-0 at half time.
There was not much to speak of in the second half, with UJ once again, throwing the kitchen sink, the stove and every other appliance imaginable at the Durbanites, to no avail.
UJ were awarded a penalty scored by Kelebogile Putu in the 32nd minute to cement, what was an unconvincing victory.
A penalty in stoppage time helped UJ to score their second through Kelebogile Putu.
