Varsity Football will seek to make a difference off the field this season by running the ‘Blow The Whistle’ and ‘Varsity Roots’ campaigns.
Blow The Wistle seeks to protect all women and children of South Africa, but empower them by giving them their voice back, whilst Varsity Roots will see the eight teams nominate schools in their area which will receive specialised football coaching from the players.
Blow The Whistle is an anti-crime initiative with the goal to provide all woman with a platform that can assist in giving them their voice back.
Donors can pledge money to Blow The Whistle and the money will be used to buy whistles for the women at the University concerned or alternatively the money can be used for another charity of the University’s choice.
Blow The Whistle ambassadors will attend televised home games at each University in an attempt to create awareness and encourage donation to this worthy cause.
As part of the Varsity Roots campaign each University team have to do football coaching at five schools in their area during the duration of the tournament.
The school will receive five Football Coaching Manuals as well as 50 match tickets per match to attend the University’s home games.
The Universities will also receive two replica jerseys which will be signed by the University squad members to hand out at the coaching session.
