The 2019 Varsity Netball season will reach a critical stage in Pretoria this weekend with two days of all-out action.
Here are reasons why you shouldn’t miss any of it, whether it’s in person at Rembrandt Hall (University of Pretoria), following @varsitysportsSA social media channels via your phone or tablet or watching live on SuperSport 210.
BACK-TO-BACK ACTION
If you love netball, and Varsity Netball is some of the best netball you can watch, then what better than following eight matches in two days?!
Starting at mid-day on Sunday, with a clash between two-time champions NWU and UJ, there will be four back-to-back matches at Rembrandt Hall to make for an excellent afternoon with your family.
Then on Monday, which are established as Varsity Netball nights, the action will get going at 14:30 before concluding with a clash between bumper weekend hosts Tuks and their long-time rivals NWU starting at 19:00.

GENERATION NEXT
By now, you must have heard … the 2023 Netball World Cup is taking place in Cape Town!
Considering 10 of the 12 Proteas Netball squad at this year’s tournament were Varsity Netball alumni it’s clear where the Road to 2023 starts – so when better than seeing all of South Africa’s future netball stars during the bumper weekend.
Last year’s Player of the Tournament Khanyisa Chawane is one such player who first showcased her qualities during Varsity Netball before starring for the Proteas in Liverpool. She should still be at her best in four years’ time, as she currently is for defending champions Kovsies.

SEMI-FINAL SPOT ARE UP FOR GRABS
With four rounds of action already having taken place during this Varsity Netball season, the make-up of the log is starting to become clearer and clearer.
Tuks, the bumper weekend hosts, currently sit at the top of the table having started the season by gaining revenge over Kovsies for last year’s final. As it happens, it’s not the defending champions who currently sit second… but Maties – who picked up a bonus point in their narrow loss against Tuks last time out.
NWU are the other team currently in the top four, but Madibaz are hot on their heels and so will be keen to make full use of their weekend in Pretoria.

YOU CAN WIN TOO!
It’s not just the players who will get to show their skills on-court, but you can too.
If you fancy yourself better at shooting at goal than the likes of Venetia Grobler, Vendijhonga Katjaimo or Rolene Streutker then you can show them by trying to sink a ball into a life-size Wimpy Cuppa. Will you seize the moment, or freeze under pressure?
Meanwhile, if you bring enough friends you can test your prowess at spelling with the FNB Scramble and possibly appear live on SuperSport 210 to explain how you did it.
Either way, you better get to the Rembrandt Hall or you’ll miss out…

SHOW YOUR COLOURS!
Ultimately, the Varsity Netball bumper weekend is about bringing all the teams together and for them to show who emerges best.
Why not sport the colours of the team you’ll be backing… it will let your favourite netball stars know that you’re on their side, and they’ll probably interact with you.
We’re sure you don’t need a refresher but these are the colours to find in your cupboard: NWU (purple and turqoise), TUT (red), Maties (maroon), UWC (blue and gold), Kovsies (grey, red and blue), Madibaz (navy blue), UJ (orange) and Tuks (red, blue and yellow stripes)
