After a 4-0 loss against The University of Johannesburg, UP-Tuks felt a cold arrow pierce through their hearts.
It is always difficult after suffering a setback the way that UP-Tuks did on Monday on home grounds, but this has not defeated their spirits just yet.
Coach Evangelos Vellios felt that it was hard to wake up after a very harsh lesson, but the coach knows that this loss is not the end for them but rather a good lesson that been placed in their path to success.
“I thought I would never have to endure this as a coach again, but that’s football I guess, we can’t dwell on it, we have to keep moving forward”, he stated.
He said that although his side had looked the part in the first half, they fell apart somewhat.
“To be honest defensively first 40 minutes we were superb, I think we went one nil up with a clean goal, the refs felt otherwise then next minute UJ capitalised on a goal and instead of going to hit one up we go one down. Second half we fell apart and UJ capitalised, credit to them they were the better team,” he said.
Evangelos knows exactly how to lift his team as the team suffered from a hard blow last year in their opening game against TUT, on home grounds as well, but this never stopped them from winning the title last year.
“The players know what this institution is all about, we have been here before and we will bounce back. Next week a win will put us in a great position again as teams around us are playing each other, so we need to heal as a team quick and we will,” Vellios said.
Disappointment is a strong emotion that is going around campus, as many supporters feel their champs have let this cup slide from their fingertips, however it is not the end yet.
