NWU-Pukke secured a Varsity Netball semifinal spot with a clinical 65-32 victory against NMMU in Potchefstroom.
It was a ruthless display which sees them finish the round robin phase of the competition in fourth place, while it is the end of the season for the Madibaz who finish in fifth.
The home side made a determined start to the game and managed to build up an early lead to grab the early ascendency.
However, the Madibaz were not going to roll over that easily, and they fought their way back onto level terms before long with the score deadlocked at 8-8 after the opening 10 minutes.
At the first break it was Pukke back in front with a 13-8 after they finished a tense opening quarter strongest.
They continued that dominance at the start of the second quarter, and took the game away from the visitors who were battling to find a response.
The powerplay was taken soon afterwards and they used it well to stretch their lead out to 22-8, leaving NMMU searching for a way back into the game.
At half-time the home was looking comfortable with a healthy 29-14 advantage, leaving the Madibaz with it all to do in the second half.
NMMU came out firing in the second half, but Pukke had a handy buffer and were able to maintain their advantage to take a 45-25 lead into the final break.
The Madibaz took their powerplay early in the final period in a bid to mount a remarkable comeback, but it was not to be as Pukke held out for a convincing win in the end.
