UP-Tuks goal shooter Lenize Potgieter is confident they will beat Maties in the Varsity Netball semifinal on Monday.
The Pretoria side have home ground advantage, which was not the case in the second round when they got the better of Maties.
Potgieter said they regrouped from their second round match and they are now an improved side.
“We have certainly improved since our first match against Maties. Because we were an inexperienced team in the beginning, we have put in a lot of effort to settle the best combinations and I’m so proud of my teammates who stepped up and showed their true, fighting colours.
“I don’t want to sound cocky, but I am sure we will beat them on Monday and play in the final, but let’s just wait and see. We are ready for them and any surprises that’s heading our way ,” she said.
The 21-year-old is in the running for the Player of the Series award, and she credits her team for her performance this season.
“I definitely need to thank my coach and manager for having the heart to heart chats with me when I need it and also my teammates who trust me on court to sink the ball for them everytime, and when I don’t, to fight and defend the ball to return it to me for another chance,” she added.
