Maties sprinter Justine Palframan is going into the final round of Varsity Athletics looking to win back-to-back 200 metre titles.
The national champion in 200 metres has also competed in the 400 metres at Varsity Athletics where she came second behind Tuks flyer Anneri Ebersohn.
“The competition has been going well for me and I think that I have been running well and I am getting better as the competition goes on,” Palframan told varsitysportssa.com.
She had the national championships to run the weekend before the opening round of the Varsity Athletics and found it quite difficult with such a short turn around between events.
“It was difficult to go from nationals to Varsity Athletics because we ran our events quite close together,” she added.
Participating in both the 200 metres and 400 metres means that she has to concentrate on more than one event.
“I do train for both the 200 metres and 400 metres but I prefer the 200 metres,” Palframan said.
Being the national champion, Palframan does not feel like she is under any more stress than her opponents.
“There is no added pressure on me as national champion but the pressure comes from yourself and you have to deal with that,” she mentioned.
Palframan will make the trip to Durban for the weekend where she will take part in the USSA championships. This means a change in altitude and conditions.
Then she will jet up to Pretoria for the final round of Varsity Athletics.
“The change in altitude is not really an issue and I will be ready to run again on Monday,” Palframam concluded.
