NWU’s deadly and fearless striker Tshenolo Machwisa has dedicated his free scoring ability to the team effort.
Tshenolo has four goals to his name so far in the Varsity Football tournament, making him the top scorer after his hat-trick against UCT.
However, the humble striker deflected all of the praise onto his teammates.
“The goals I scored so far in this tournament is through the help of my team mates, support by the fans, inspiration by the technical team and the encouragement and confidence shown on us by the head coach,” said Machwisa.
This 24-year-old, Bachelor of Science Honours student was unstoppable as he terrorized the UCT defence in the last game, scoring a hat trick.
This courageous Klerksdorp (Tigane township) born player has all the qualities you can ask for from a modern football striker. He is able to shoot from acute angles, he is extremely fast and he can run past the defenses.
In 2013 ‘Milito’ as he is affectionately known by his fans and team mates was the top goal scorer in the North West Castle Regional league after scoring a record of 49 goals in 28 games.
When asked about his role model Machwisa boldly said: “I looked up to my mother and brother as my role models. My mother because she raised us up as a single parent. My brother because he has been very supportive to my football career as a former footballer himself.”
Machwisa’s fantasy is to help his team to advance in this tournament by either scoring goals or creating chances for his team mates to score goals.
“My immediate wish is to be the overall top goal scorer in this tournament and also play for a Premier Soccer League team one day. With God on my side all this dreams are achievable,” he concluded.
