North-West University Mafikeng football team has plenty of time to prepare for the next Varsity Football game against two-time Varsity Football champions, University of Pretoria.
The break in schedule comes after a cancellation of the scheduled match between the two teams due to three of the Wits players being selected for the national university squad, who will play in Zambia during the first week of August, 2016.
NWU-Mafikeng meets the two-time Varsity Football champions UP-Tuks in a scheduled round robin game on 8 August 2016 at UP Tuks Stadium.
“The break is a blessing in disguise for us, as it will give us enough time to prepare for our match against UP-Tuks. I expect the team to be tactically on top of their game going to this match. We will have one goal in mind, to win this game,” said NWU-Mafikeng coach Amos Xabanisa.
Coach Xabanisa insisted that the team has not reached its peak yet.
“We haven`t played to our potential yet in this tournament. We will work on all mistakes committed during the first two games. The best for this team is yet to come,” added Xabanisa.
NWU-Mafikeng currently have three points in the Varsity Football tournament after losing the first game to University of Johannesburg and defeating the University of Fort Hare by three goals to two.
