The northern teams ruled the roost in Round Four of the Varsity Sevens action in Camps Bay on Friday.
UP-Tuks continued their unbeaten run on the poening day of the tournament with a comprehensive 69-0 victory over Limpopo.
The Pretoria side ran in 11 tries, with Clayton Stewart crossing the tryline five times, in a ruthless display against a Limpopo outfit that is still looking for their first win.
UJ were forced to work hard for their 15-7 win against UWC, with their defence holding out well in the face of a fierce onslaught from the Cape outfit in the dying stages.
Pukke were pushed by a determined UCT side, and were given a real scare by the Ikeys but managed to pull through to notch a 28-19 victory.
Pukke went into the half-time break with a 14-7 lead, but UCT turned the match on its head when Ryan Dougmore got over for a powerplay try at the start of the second half to snatc a 19-14 lead.
However, Pukke showed good resolve to fight their way back into the game and finished the game as the dominant side with two late tries.
Defending champions Maties bounced back from their loss to Pukke in Round Three by brushing TUT aside on their way to a 43-0 victory.
Dave Strachan grabbed a hat-trick as the Stellenbosch side scored six unanswered tries in a one-sided affair.
Kovsies also got back to winning ways as they heaped more misery on NMMU who have yet to win a game in what has been a demanding opening day.
The bonus-point win puts Kovsies right back in the mix, whilst NMMU were left to contemplate their fourth successive defeat.
