Reigning Varsity Netball champions, UFS-Kovsies will be represented by a total of nine players in both the 2016 World Universities Netball Championships (WUNC) and the Confederation of University and Colleges Sports Association (CUCSA) Games squads.
Kovsies’ Karla Mostert, who was awarded the 2014 Varsity Netball Player of the Tournament, is joined by the tournament’s Players’ Player of the Year, Shadine van der Merwe and five other UP-Tuks players.
The remainder of the squad is made up of four players from NWU-Pukke and includes prolific Wing Defence Lentsa Motau.
Six of the 16 players selected into the WUNC side recently tasted success with the South African National side that successfully claimed the 2015 Diamond Challenge in Durban.
The 2016 WUNC takes place from July 13-17 in Miami, Florida.
For the CUCSA Games, Maties and Kovsies share the spoils with five players each in the squad while there’s spots for two Tuks players as well as one from UJ and NMMU, respectively.
The 2016 CUCSA Games will be held in Zimbabwe.
