The University of Western Cape have been on a scoring spree this season. With four rounds played the boys from Bellville have scored a massive 14 goals and only conceded one, from their away defeat at CUT. UWC attack is led by Phiwokuhle Mpalala, Thulani Mkosi and Chad Smith, the three attackers are calling themselves the MMS. The trio has contributed a tally of nine goals to the 14 that the team has scored.
Whoever crosses the MMS’s path will surely be dealt with, that was the message the trio sent out to their opponents when Varsity Sports caught up with them after they thrashed North-West University 4-0.
This week UWC will not be in action and that gives the technical team some time to work on the team’s weaknesses and solidify their strengths. Not being in action this week will also help the injured players, namely Ayanda Nkunkwana and Giovanni Gaffoor with recovery so they can be ready for the game against defending champions TUT on Monday.
The MMS trio has a wealth of experience amongst them as they were part of the formidable side that conquered Varsity Football in 2015. The experience from 2015 has been vital for them this season. The game against NWU was the last home game for the UWC boys as they will play their final three round matches away from home. With three trips to Gauteng the boys from Bellville will make sure they go out for maximum points and secure a home semi-final at the Operation Room.

Next up for UWC is a date with defending champions TUT in Tshwane on the 28th of August at 18:30.
Will MMS come out on top or will coach Bushy Moloi’s famous celebration take centre stage?
