The Maties find themselves with their Varsity Netball destiny firmly in their own hands ahead of their final two matches.
After a slow start to the competition the Maties have collected the maximum points on offer against the Madibaz, UCT and UJ, which sees them currently sit in fourth place.
Their next fixture is against basement dwellers VUT, who have conceded more than 40 points per match on average. Maties will want to continue their good form and collect the bonus-point, as they battle the Kovsies and Madibaz for a place in the knockout stages. This match is on Monday 26 September and the action starts at 18:00.
Banking on five log points against VUT means that the match against the Kovsies on Thursday 29 September is virtually a quarterfinal for both teams. Both teams will want to avoid a potential semi-final against the log-leading Tukkies and might even host a semi-final due to the fact that the facilities in Potchefstroom are not capable.
The aim for the next two matches is simple; avoid a potential banana peel against VUT and then make sure all systems are ready ahead of the Kovsies visit to Stellenbosch. With her Varsity Netball career winding down the inspirational Maties captain Juline Rossouw will want to make sure her fourth and final season in the competition sees the Maties keep their dream of a first title alive.
