Maties proved far too strong for VUT as they recorded a resounding 74-24 Varsity Netball victory in Port Elizabeth on Monday.
It was Maties’ second consecutive victory after their 51-42 win against hosts NMMU on Sunday, whilst VUT are still looking for their first win of the tournament.
The game got off to a frantic start as the teams exchanged early blows, but Maties soon took control of proceedings and had built up a 18-9 lead by the first break.
The Stellenbosch side were calling the shots and continued to stretch their lead in the second quarter, with VUT staring down an imposing 39-14 deficit at half-time.
The onslaught continued in the third quarter as VUT fell right off the pace, and Maties wrapped the bonus point up early to take a 58-22 into the final break.
It was more of the same in the last quarter, and although VUT fought hard they could not avoid another heavy defeat.
