Following their epic final in Plettenberg Bay last week Maties and NWU-Pukke head to the Varsity Sports Sevens in Margate as top seeds in their respective pools.
The Stellenbosch side clinched a dramatic victory in extra time on Saturday to deny NWU-Pukke the trophy, and they will face UJ, NMMU, UCT and TUT in Friday’s action.
Although the NWU-Pukke side were denied victory in the remarkable final last week, they will be determined to bounce back and will start their campaign by squaring off with UP-Tuks, UWC, UFS and Limpopo in Pool B on Friday.
Whilst the two finalists will have their sights set on challenging for the trophy in Margate this weekend, the rest of the teams will be equally determined to show that they have what it takes to go all the way.
Despite the consolation of picking up the Plate in Plettenberg Bay Kovsies will be focused on proving that they can mix it with the big boys in the Cup this week, and the rest of the sides will be out to apply what they learned in the inaugural competition as well.
