The University of Limpopo will be going all out to improve on their previous performance in the Varsity Volleyball competition and have set their sights on a Top Three finish.
In the 2013 edition of the event, Limpopo lost to UCT by a solitary point in the Plate Final but experienced player Maureen Mnisi believes they have what it takes to give a much improved performance this time around.
“Our preparations have been going really well and we are excited to be playing in the event again. We would like to attempt to make the final but if that does not happen then we are looking to end third,” she told varsitysportssa.com.
Limpopo’s preparation have been handed a major boost when their facilities received a much needed facelift – with more sand being brought in to increase the space for training.
The fourth year LLB student is hopeful they will be able to pull off some upsets along the way in an environment which could be a lot different to the very windy conditions they faced at Camps Bay.
“In 2013, Camps Bay was very windy and we struggled a lot in those conditions. Hopefully, there will be less wind at UWC’s campus which will help us a lot and allow us to be very competitive.
“We know we have the team to be very competitive and pull off a few upsets at the event, but we will have to wait and see what the weather conditions will be like once we get to Cape Town,” she added.
The Varsity Volleyball competition will take place from April 22-23 at the UWC campus in Bellville, Cape Town.
