Looking at the Kovsies team from a distance, one always seems to notice one specific player that towers over them all.
Being one of Kovsies’ tallest players, what Jarred Meyer might acquire in height, surely doesn’t take away from his sheer skill and determination on the football field.
Meyer was born and raised in Bloemfontein where he attended the famous boys institution, Grey College.
It was at school where Jarred found his love for football and thanks his mom for helping to steer him in the right direction.
“My mom thought it was safer to play soccer than rugby,” he says whilst laughing.
Playing for Kovsies for only two years Jarred is more than happy with how the team has been performing.
“Playing for Kovsies means you and your team only improve over time. Thanks to our great technical staff, in the next two years Kovsies will definitely be boasting five or more professional players.”
Jarred was scouted by the Free State Stars in 2013 where unfortunately his leg was broken. He hopes to have better luck this year but enjoys playing for Kovsies tremendously.
