What Kovsies midfielder Simon Modupi might lack in height, he surely made up for with a great deal of talent.
If there is anything the Kovsies side has an abundance of, it’s a variety in height. From players towering above the likes of 1.8 metres, to tiny troupes just making the 1.5 metre line.
A resident of Botshabelo and a proud matriculant of “Setjhaba se Maketse”, the 1.55 metre tall Modupi says he has been playing soccer since the age of nine.
“I used to watch my brothers play, that’s when I developed my love for soccer. My dad also encouraged me to play the sport,” he explained.
Modupi’s choice upon joining Kovsies was aided by the way in which the university prepares one for the corporate world. He also says that it was closest to his home town.
Modupi’s past awards include a bronze medal at the USSA championships in 2013, as well as taking first position in the OR Tambo games in 2010.
“Kovsies produces quality players who are intelligent and who will compete on a professional level someday,” Modupi predicted.
Doing his final year in B.Com Economics, Modupi proudly states that he has been part of the Kovsie soccer family for almost four years now and hopes to continue to push himself to become better at the game.
