Half-time at Varsity Football matches this season will be action-packed with a number of fan competitions which give you the chance to win some great prizes if you attend the game live.
Varsity Football sponsors FNB, Debonairs, Jet Mart and Samsung have combined to ensure that there will be plenty to keep the fans entertained and get them involved while the players take a breather at the half-time break.
The popular ‘Kick for Cash’ competition will continue, along with the Samsung Smadzadza and Debonairs AmaZing Fan awards, whilst there will also be a crowd singing competition and a ‘Varsity Jive’ challenge.
For the Kick for Cash challenge a group of eight fans will be selected from the crowd and invited to participate. They will each get a chance to bend it around a ‘wall’ and shoot for goal twice.
Each challenge will include a total prizemoney of R2000, which means that if no goals are scored that money is carried over to the next home game. If no goals are scored in the four home games then that money is carried over to the final.
The Samsung Smadzadza will also be selected from the crowd and receive a cellphone, whilst the Debonairs AmaZing Fan will be rewarded for backing their team passionately and wearing their colours.
The Varsity Jive competition will run at every home game and give fans a chance to show off their dance moves just before kick-off at every home game.
A minimum of five and a maximum of 10 members will be selected from the crowd by the MC per home game to dance for two and a half minutes. All the members will dance at the same time to one song and the winner will be determined by the crowd’s reaction;
If there is a similar crowd reaction to two or more dancers, another two and a half minutes will be allocated to decide the winner from those dancers.
The winner at each match will receive a replica jersey of the home team as well as R200. Each winner from each match goes through to the final home game of each University where they have a dance off.
The winner of the last home match get appointed prior to kick-off. Thus at the final home game there will either be three or four participants (winners from previous matches) who will have a dance off at half-time;
The video of the overall winner from each Varsity’s dance will be uploaded on the website where they will enter into an online voting system.
The winner will be taken to the finals where they will dance against the hosts’ best. They will also receive an amount of R1 000 which will be handed over at the finals.
For the crowd singing competition Varsity Sports will supply a voucher for Debonairs Pizzas to the group that shows the most passion on the night.
This voucher will entitle them to collect 15 x Debonairs Pizza Real Deals after the final whistle from the Debonairs Pizza vending point.
This voucher will expire if the pizzas are not collected on the night of the game. The MC will select the group that has the most passion on the night.
So make sure that you get down to as many home games as possible this season to give yourself the best possible chance of winning some of these fantastic prizes.
