UCT coach Theo Moletsane believes that his side has great potential for growth in Varsity Netball seasons to come.
Althought UCT bombed out of the competition having only secured one win against rookies VUT, they finished the tournament in position seven having collected four points.
This is an improvement from last year’s tournament where they finished at the bottom of the log having lost all their matches.
Moletsane believes his side will be able to grow from here.
“Most of them are inexperienced players who are in their first year and they have not participated in this level of netball. It is a great chance for the young players to grab as much knowledge from the other more experienced players.
“But we are building for next year but I think they did very well especially having being able to win a match. I am very proud of them,” said Moletsane.
Moletsane said that there are still areas they need to work on for next year’s tournament, like their shooting.
“I am just disappointed with our shooting. Our shooters don’t think about their shooting, the timing and everything. I think we should get shooters. We also need to work on our techniques of moving forward with the ball,” he said
He added that any team can win a game of netball only if the players apply themselves.
“Netball is a game of seven players and it is an unpredictable sport, I believe any team can win only when the players take a winning attitude on the court and not having inferior thoughts about themselves.
