UFS-Kovsies will be heading to Cape Town to face a UCT side who are down in the dumps but will be hoping that home ground advantage will give them the edge over the more fancied Bloem students.
Both sides are coming off the back of heavy defeats, Kovsies lost 4-0 to NMMU in Bloemfontein and UCT suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of UJ in Soweto, and will be hoping to hit back back straight away; each for their own reasons.
Kovsies are still in the running for a semi-final spot as they find themselves fifth on the overall log, tied on points with fourth placed NMMU.
UCT are rooted to the bottom of the standings and will be playing for pride in the hope of avoiding the wooden spoon.
The visitors will welcome Dumisani ‘Dunga’ Tjomelane back to the squad as the defender returns from Zambia where he represented the national student football team and will rely on his experience to bolster a defence who seemed out of tune in their previous match.
Kovsies assistant coach Tebogo Motsamai is confident his charges can bounce straight back as their preparation for the match has gone according to plan and, according to him, the players are “on fire”.
UCT are yet to win a game this year and their only point of the competition thus far came in the opening round when they salvaged a draw at home against the University of Limpopo.
