The highly anticipated 2016 Varsity Football season kicks off this month, and two teams are welcomed back into the competition – the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and NWU-Mafikeng, as well as the two brand new teams join Varsity Football – Central University of Technology (CUT) and University of Fort Hare (UFH).
Tickets are now available and fans are urged to download the Varsity Sports App off the Google Play or App Store, free of charge, to redeem their free tickets. With every ticket redeemed through the app, fans using Cell C as their service provider will also receive a free 500MB data bundle, courtesy of Cell C. All tickets purchased at stadium gates on match days will cost R10.
The season kicks off on 18 July, with NWU-Mafikeng hosting UJ at the NWU-Mafikeng Stadium at 16h30, followed by UFH hosting CUT at Davidson Stadium at 19h00. Both these matches will be live on SuperSport 4 and SuperSport Select. The non-televised matches will be played at 18h30, where defending champions, University of Western Cape (UWC) will host USSA winners, UP-Tuks at the UWC Sport Stadium, and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) will host Wits at TUT Stadium.
