CEO of ASEM (Advent Sport Entertainment and Media), Francois Pienaar, recently spoke to kykNET about his excitement for Varsity Sports’ very first cultural competition, Varsity Sing, which begins on Thursday 14 July.
“We began with sport and specifically rugby, with the Varsity Cup, then we began looking at other sports such as athletics, netball, football, hockey, sevens rugby and cricket,” said Pienaar. “And the natural progression was to also provide a platform for arts and culture, to see what cultural talent we have at our universities.”
Varsity Sing is a choral singing competition, including 12 of South Africa’s top university choirs.
It will air every Thursday at 20:30 on kykNET, beginning with an extended preview to the competition on 14 July.
